Cub Scout Fun Day-State Fair of WV

All Cub Scouts are invited to a Cub Fun Day at the State Fair of WV!

State Fair Cub Scout Fun Day

Buckskin Council will once again hold its annual State Fair of WV Camporee the final Weekend of the State Fair in Lewisburg WV.   Scouting BSA, Ventures, and Explorers will camp just minutes from the fair grounds.   Saturday morning, campers are bussed directly to the fairgrounds for the opportunity to earn the carnival “BIG PASS” as they learn about WV agriculture earning Farm Mechanics or Animal Science Merit Badge.

In addition to the annual BSA Camporee, Cub Scouts and their families are now aloud to participate in the Saturday only, “Learn to Earn” activities as an official Buckskin Cub Scout Fun Day as they enjoy a substantial discount.  Cub packages will include their $11 gate pass, $25 Carnival Big Pass valid 11am-5pm, Event Patch, and “Learn to Earn” activity sheet for a total cost of $15 when pre-registered at Buckskin.org.   Scout friends & siblings are allowed to accompany if pre-registered under the same account.    Pre-registration must be complete by August 1st for Cub Fun Day discounts.

Unlike our BSA camporee, Cub families will be under their own parental or/leader supervision.  Since the Cub package does not include bus transportation or dinner, those families are free to leave at will unlike the BSA package that includes dinner as a meeting guest to regroup for the return bus ride back to basecamp.   Cub families wishing to visit with troops at the basecamp are welcome from 7p-11p; however, they must ask permission before entering an individual troop site.   This will be a great opportunity for Cub families to visit with Troops and witness low profile camping.   Although the actual Camporee is intended for older troops and not recommended for Cubs, permission may be granted by individual troops to allow younger Siblings, Cubs, or Webelos to reside at their campsite.   Those special cases will not be restricted to the bus transportation.  They will simply drive from campsite to fairgrounds using the 10am Cub check-in tent.

Since the State Fair Camporee and Cub Scout Fun Day occur at the beginning of Fall Kick-Off, we invite you to use this event as a recruiting drive to grow your units.  Furthermore, we ask all scouts to proudly wear their uniforms at the fairground to promote the BSA.
