Go NOVA! at the Clay Center

All Cub Scouts are Invited to GO NOVA!

Cub Scouts are invited to come out to the Clay Center in Charleston to GO NOVA!

On May 19th, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, the Clay Center welcomes Wolves, Bears, and Webelos who wish to have fun and learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.   The Discovery Museum in included! 

Bring your lunch - Snack bar will be open.

The cost is $18 per Scout and includes a patch, the planetarium and fun experiments too!  Adult admission is $10.

 

 

 

Schedule of Activities:

9:00 AM – Arrival and Check-In

9:15 AM – Welcome Discussion and “Purpose of Museum” (Requirement 4A)

9:30 AM – Secrets of Gravity Planetarium Show (Requirement 1A)

10:30 AM – Post Show Discussion with Planetarium Operator (Requirement 1A)

10:45 AM – Rocket Workshop – (Question 3A1, 3B, 3C) –Rocket Fin Test & Analysis. During this workshop Cub Scouts will first make and launch straw rockets which will allow them to more easily monitor testing and analysis. Cub Scouts will then apply what they learned about rocket construction to design and build a water rocket (utilizing the 20 oz plastic bottle)

12:15 PM – Post Workshop STEM Discussion – (Question 5) 12:30 PM – Lunch in the café

1:00 PM – Gallery Exploration in the museum galleries.

 

** Requirement 2 to be completed on own.
