Scouting For FoodAs Scouts, we know how fortunate we are to have a warm meal every night — whether around the campfire or at the kitchen table. And we know that not everyone is so lucky. That’s the genesis of Scouting for Food, the annual food-collection drive run by the council. It’s another reminder to our local communities that Scouts are here, doing good turns. Scouting for Food takes place on two consecutive weekends. On the first weekend, Scouts distribute bags to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second weekend, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up bags full of canned food, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, juice and other nonperishable items. The bags do not have a date on them so units that cannot do the distribution on November 2 and pick up on November 9 may choose their own weekends to do the drive. You are encouraged to try and do your drive on these dates. We ask unit leaders to please let the council know how many cans/items you collected. You may submit it online at buckskin.org by clicking the orange "REGISTER" button or use the form available in the Resources, online, or at the Council Service Center and Shops. Please report the number of items your unit collects by clicking the orange 'Register" button. After you have entered your totals, put the 'registration' into your cart then submit by checking out. You may also email the form to your District Executive. Please take time to submit your service hours at my.scouting.org.
