Count Down to Adventure
2-3 months before Summer Camp
- Leaders and Committee review camp guide
- Adult leadership set for camp (remember 2 deep leadership)
- Each Scout and his family committed
- Leader supplies
Medical
exam forms to each scout and Scouter
- Leader supplies
Medical
exam forms to each Scouter over 40
- Leader supplies equipment lists
to each scout
- Leader supplies insurance forms to each scout
- Unit leader begins program planning procedure for camp
- Travel plans started
- Troop equipment needs made
- Each scouts advancement needs to be checked and Merit Badges selected
- Merit badges that have a prerequisite need to
be done
- Scholarship needs
determined
- Fees paid for campsite
- Talk with Webelos who will graduate into your troop about Summer Camp
Four weeks before camp
- Scribe and Unit leader complete camp
roster sheets
- Check on medical exams to see if they have been completed
- Confirm that all fees have been paid
- Inventory each Scout's advancement records
- Scribe and Unit Leader fill out
Merit
Badge registration form
- Counsel Scouts on their personal goals for fun and advancement at camp
- Set up swim classifications
if needed
- Check on transportation arrangements and finalize
- Gather OA information
Two weeks before departure
- Final patrol Leaders Council sets troop program
- Unit committee meets to tie up loose ends
- Final check on transportation
- Collect medical forms
- Collect insurance forms
- Complete all forms for camp
- Gather Troop gear in one location for loading day of leaving
- Decide on extra food / snack requirements
Day of Arrival at Camp
- Check everybody's gear
- Prescribed medication for Scouts and Scouters
- Pack Troop equipment
- Plan to arrive at camp between 2 and 4pm
- Have everybody who is going emergency contact information
- Bring all of the following forms:
- Receipts showing payment of fees
- Completed Troop Roster
- Completed Camp Fee Worksheet
- Medical Forms
- Family Insurance Forms
- Swim Classification Records
