Set your own timetables, and make sure to delegate the necessary tasks!

Description

Meeting set-up Have the Scouts come in well in advance to set up the chairs and tables needed.  Remember to have a table set up for sign in, your treasurer, and another adult to help with registration forms.  Make sure the flags are ready to go, and everyone is present.  Make sure the materials for the program are on hand.
Attendance sign-in  Have the Membership Parent staff the table with the sign in sheet, and keep the photo album handy for boys and parents to look through.
Opening / Flag Ceremony Senior Patrol Leader leads boys in Scout Oath and Law.
Pre-program Description of troop:
  • Led by Scouts and elected Senior Patrol Leader
  • Weekly meetings
  • Frequent campouts
  • Summer camp opportunities
  • Uses patrols with elected Patrol Leaders

Possible quick slide presentation of former campouts

Program Try to have the boys as active as possible. Let the new Prospects interact with the program. You might try a new Game to test the skills taught during the program.

 Patrol Corners/Adult to Adult talk time Patrol Corners

Announce that it’s time for patrol corners, and that patrols Should work on their menus for the upcoming camporee, or other worthwhile activity. While you and the parents are meeting, have the Temporary Patrol Leader meet with the prospective Scouts to tell them funny stories about what happens on campouts, etc. Also, have the prospective boys fill out their membership application. After patrol corners, have the prospects give their applications to their parent to sign.

Adult Talk

While their sons are meeting in patrol corners, gather the adults in a group to discuss the importance of Scouting.  Describe some of the Scouts as examples of boys who have Benefited. Possible topics are:

  • Tell why you’re a Scoutmaster
  • The friendships developed in Scouting
  • The potential of Scouts to become leaders
  • The skills that Scouts master
  • The confidence that Scouts use
  • Suggest they ask friends and neighbors about Scouting
  • Answer questions
Game Play a game, one suggested by the Scouts, perhaps that will test the skills learned during the program
Closing Announcements
