Klondike Derby is a day of Scouting fun with a mixture of competitive spirit and outdoor fellowship.
The Kootaga Gold Rush will take place at Camp Kootaga, 79 Camp Kootaga Road, Walker, WV 26180. Camp is 15 miles east of I-77 on State Route 47.
There is no running water at campsites during the winter. Please bring plenty of water. You will also be able to fill containers at the Dining Hall. Please bring plenty of firewood, no firewood will be provided. Firewood may be found around camp, but please check with the camp ranger at check-in to verify all camp rules and regulations. Reservation of cabins or adirondaks are separate from the Klondike fee and can be made by calling the Parkersburg Scout Shop, 304 422-4507. There is no registration of the Lodge or Dining Hall during the Klondike Derby.
All units must turn in completed registration form and health forms at check-in for all attending. Health forms and a complete unit roster are mandatory for all youth and adults attending. These will be kept at the Dining Hall for easy access, if needed. Leaders may pick them up when leaving camp.
Cost will be $10.00 for each Boy Scout, Second Year Webelos and Adult attending. Cost includes patch, hot chocolate rations, one pass through the Klondike Soup Line for lunch, camping fees, and awards for the events.
