One of the largest single day Scouting events in the Council, Marshall University Merit Badge College attracts scouts not just from Buckskin Council, but from surrounding councils as well.  How many merit badges will be offered?  Close to fifty merit badges will be available.  From Fingerprinting and First Aid to Programming and Nuclear Science, you’ll find a merit badge that will engage you.  Scouts may register for up to two merit badges being offered. We are adding Citizenship in Society to our merit badge offering.  Register early for best merit badge selection.

The fee is $15 per scout which includes lunch. Adults may purchase a optional lunch ticket for $10.

Adult training will be offered, most with no fee, including Safeguarding Youth Training and Merit Badge Counselor Orientation. Basic First Aid, AED and CPR will again be offered, with a fee of $50.00.

Buckskin Council is partnering with the Marshall University Aviation Department to offer an Aviation Merit Badge Day at the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School at Yeager Airport in Charleston, WV.

The Merit Badge Day is Saturday,  March 7, 2026.  Check-in begins at 9:00am. The session will run from 9:30am to 1:00pm. The session is limited to 30 scouts.

All Aviation Merit Badge Requirements will be covered by the instructors, but scouts will be expected to complete requirement 5 as a pre-requisite for the session.

Registration fee is $5.00 per scout. Adults may attend at no charge and should register as well.

Yeager Airport is located at 100 Airport Road #175, Charleston, WV. If coming via I-64, take exit 99 to WV-114/Greenbrier St. Follow WV-114/Greenbrier St to Airport Road. Follow the signs to the flight school building.

 

Scout Ski Days at Winterplace

Scouts on Skis is back for the 2026 Season!  Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops, and individuals can sign up and spend a day learning how to ski, snowboard, or even snowtube!  Bring your friends and family too.
SKI/SNOWBOARD PACKAGE:  $80 per person - includes a lift ticket for all open areas, equipment rental (skis or snowboard* and helmet) and a group lesson**.
The all day Ski/Snowboard Package has an optional 2 hour 45 minute snowtubing add-on for an additional $35.

*There is a $10 charge to change your equipment during your visit.
**Group lessons are available at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm.

SNOWTUBING :  All Day package  $60
If you only want to snowtube, choose the All Day Snowtubing Package.  Persons tubing must be at least 44 inches tall.  Only single riders per tube.
Meal vouchers are available for $17 per person.

Council Service Territory 12 Conference

The 2026 Council Service Territory 12 Conference, hosted by the Shenandoah Area Council, will be held at Camp Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton, Pennsylvania. They have planned a full day of breakout sessions to support and enhance council operations and programs for Executive Board members, Council & District Key 3's, unit commissioners, plus all program and Scout leaders. There will be a wide range of topics covered during break-out sessions, including training, advancement, inclusivity, membership, outdoor programs and administration, council properties, and NCAP.

In addition to a key-note speaker, there will also be some time for Q&A before we adjourn to our breakout sessions.
Throughout the day, take the opportunity to meet Scouters from other councils. Sit with new friends at lunch. Share ideas and best practices. Grow your network. There’s much more to take back with you than just a couple pages of notes from the sessions you attend.

The Buckskin Council is bringing Summer Camp back to Camp Arrowhead in 2026!

Next summer will be fun and exciting for all Scouts and leaders as Summer Camp returns to beautiful Camp Arrowhead. Our camp staff is planning an engaging program and getting the camp ready for all Scouts to enjoy.

The 2026 Leaders Guide and program information will available in the coming months to help Troops plan their adventure this coming summer, so reserve your troop's campsite for 2026 today!

2026 National Jamboree

Countdown to Jamboree 2026

The 2026 National Scout Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve July 22-31, 2026.

The National Jamboree is a gathering of scouts and scouters from all over the country and around the world.  It is only held every four years and because of that, many scouts only get one opportunity to attend a Jamboree.  Thousands of scouts and scouters describe the National Jamboree as one of the mountaintop experiences of their scouting career.  The event-wide arena shows are returning during the 2026 NSJ. The Jamboree will also celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA.

The fee is $1950 and is all-inclusive, covering all of the equipment you will need to camp plus all of your food and activities.  The fee also covers transportation to and from the Jamboree, and you will also get a daypack, a duffle, t-shirts, hats, patches, and other items.  Register before December 31, 2025 to avoid the $240 late fee.

Scouts must be 12 years old by July 22, 2026, and not be 18 years old by the end of the Jamboree, July 31st.

So, what do you need to do?  Register today for your once in a lifetime opportunity.  A deposit is required when you first register.  Regular payments must be made during the coming year.  When registering, you will need to know your Scouting Member ID number.  It can be found on your membership card.  The Scouting Member ID number is NOT the same as your Scoutbook ID number.  If you need help determining you Member ID number, contact the Service Center.

The council has developed a payment schedule to help scouts and their families budget the Jamboree experience.  Scholarships may be available.

Register as a Council Contingent Staff Member!

Calling all adults planning to attend the National Jamboree with a Council Contingent that would like to help put on the event by being a member of Staff. These adults (21 years +) will play a dual role — supporting Jamboree operations during the day while remaining embedded with their contingent in the evenings. This is a great opportunity for adults who want to contribute to the success of the Jamboree while staying connected to their local youth.

Key Details:
  • Role & Responsibilities: Assist with Jamboree operations for at least 6 of the 7 program days. They’ll work with a team lead to determine their schedule and may be required to complete training prior to the event.
  • Travel & Lodging: These staff members will travel, eat, and camp with their council contingent.
  • Registration: Register as part of the council contingent under the designation “Council Contingent Staff Member.”

  • Recognition Kit Includes: Two participant patches, Participant neckerchief, Custom 2026 National Jamboree red daypack and a special staff gift!
