Kootaga District Pinewood Derby Race

The 2026 Kootaga District Derby invites any and ALL scouts to race. Our District Race has an out of District class and an out of Council class! We are excited to be back at WVU-P for our race this year.

Check in starts at 10:00 AM, we race on a 4 lane all aluminum track with digital timing. Scouts will race based on grade level in Cub Scout Rank Classes and SA Scouts and adults race in the PWD OUTLAWS Class.

All racers’ times will be recorded. Trophies will be awarded based on the fastest in each Cub Scout Rank and the Overall Race Winners will be selected based on fastest total time.

The fee is $5 per entry.  The first 100 registered racers will get a commemorative Race Patch drawn by Hot Wheels coloring book artist Glenn Harding.

This District Race will be our district Qualifier for the Buckskin Council Championship Race in Charleston, WV.

You’re invited to join us on Tuesday, February 10th for one of our favorite nights of the year — the Kootaga District Recognition Dinner at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, starting at 6:00 PM.
This is our chance to slow down, reconnect with one another, and celebrate the volunteers who make Scouting happen every day. From brand-new leaders making their first impact to long-time Scouters whose dedication spans decades, we’ll be recognizing individuals whose service has made a real difference in the lives of youth across our district.
The evening will start with a short District Committee meeting, followed by a catered dinner and our awards presentation. To add a little extra sweetness to the night, please bring a dessert to share with 6–8 people.
A big thank-you to Troop 86 for hosting this year’s event! The cost is $5 per person, $8 per couple, or $24 per table of six. Please register ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
Most importantly, we need your help identifying the people who deserve recognition. Please submit your nominations using the form below and return it to the Parkersburg Scout Office or email it to christopher@cbbmm.com by Friday, January 23rd.

Camp Kootaga

There’s gold in the Kootaga hills!  Our resident mountain monster (he exists, it’s true!) got bored between campouts and decided to start prospecting.  He’s since hit paydirt and wants us to share in the shiny bounty.

Join us on January 23-25, as we test our Scout skills, navigating gear sleds around Camp, competing in challenges, and generally looking to hit paydirt winning Patrol and Troop awards.

Event fee is $15 per participant.  Custom event patches & awards, Troop participation flag streamers, Friday Cracker Barrel, Saturday lunch, hot beverages throughout will be provided.
