Cub Scout Leader Position Specific Training brings together all the basics of Cub Scout leadership into one course, with separate mini-modules to deal with position specific topics such as den leader, cubmaster, and pack committee. It has been developed to give new leader the knowledge and skills (and enthusiasm!) to successfully carry out the duties of their position.
In this training, you'll learn about:
- Aims and Methods of Cub Scouting - why we do what we do and how we do it!
- Pack Structure - including adult and youth leadership roles
- Uniforms
- Advancement
- Conducting den, pack and committee meetings
- Outdoor program preparation
- Keeping Cub Scouts safe
- Recruitment
- Resources available to you as you continue your learning journey
Shawnee District is offering this training twice this October at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave, Hurricane. Pick the class that works best for you!
- Attend the Sunday, October 19th session and complete the training all at once. The class begins at 2:00 pm.
- Split it up over two nights - Tuesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 23rd. Both sessions begin at 6:00 pm. You must attend both nights to complete the training.
Each of these classes is completely free, but we ask that you register, so we know how many to expect.
