Troops and Crews of Adena, Chief Cornstalk, and Shawnee Districts are invited to share in a shooting sports weekend at Northeastern Kentucky Fish & Game Association, Herbert C Ross Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
Check-in begins Friday evening, April 24, at 6:00pm. Camping will be done in a designated area. Units are responsible for their own meals during the event. No ground fires, please. Use portable fire pits, grills, camp stoves or dutch oven tables. The camp will close at 11:00am on Sunday, April 26.
Scouts and adults will have the opportunity to participate in rifle shooting, shotgun shooting and archery. Fishing on the site may also be available. Those wishing to fish should bring their own fishing gear. We will practice “catch and release” while on site.
All attending should also have current BSA Annual Health forms. Unit leaders are expected to keep these available during the event in case these are needed.
The cost for this event is $10.00 per scout and $5.00 per adult. Fee includes event patch, camping and participation in shooting and fishing activities. Adults are welcome to join in the fun as well. Registration closes Wednesday, April 22nd at 11:59 pm.
Units should register on the Council website. Please register here so we have an idea of how many will be attending and camping on site. If your unit wishes to attend, but does not wish to camp at this time, please register your unit for participating in the activities. The fee is the same for those camping and those not camping. Event will take place, rain or shine.
Check-in will occur at the Clubhouse on the property (follow the signs). Camping will be in the adjoining fields below the clubhouse area. Restrooms and water is available in the clubhouse.
All shooting activities will take place on the ranges located off Long Shot Road. Bring drinking water with you to this site. Port-a-johns are available.
Fishing will take place at a pond below the camping area, accessible by walking down the hill to the road and following the road down to the pond. Bring drinking water. There are no facilities at the pond.
A shooting safety presentation will be made at the clubhouse on Saturday morning. Participants are required to attend this presentation. The presentation will begin at 9:00am. Those arriving on Saturday should plan to arrive in time for this presentation.
Directions to Northeastern Kentucky Fish and Game Association:
Take I-64 to exit 185 to KY-180 S in Boyd County.
Turn right onto South Big Run Road (across from the Flying J) to Rocky Gorge Range (follow the signs)
Check-in will take place at the entrance to the range area. Camping will be in the fields across from the shooting ranges.
